iOS 5.0 - A Rundown
Apple announced iOS 5.0 today and it’s coming this fall. Here is a quick rundown of some of the features.
PC Free - Apple is cutting the cord on iOS. Finally. I’ve said before that the biggest problem with the iPad is that the first thing you have to do is plug it into a computer. With the release of iOS 5 you don’t have to do that. The hardware will work right out of the box and even update over the air. In my opinion this is a huge announcement for the future of iPad.
Notifications - We finally get new notifications on iOS with Notification Center. A single place to manager your notifications. You’ll also get an alert on the top of your screen, where clock is, so it won’t interrupt the app you are currently in. Thank you. To go a step beyond you can jump into an app right from the lock screen. So if you get a text message you can unlock your phone directly into that message. A huge leap in the right direction.
Twitter - It’s hard wired into every app now just like email, and MMS. You can tweet from Safari, YouTube and Maps. Really interesting. Apple is betting hard on Twitter.

Amazon poised for color, touchscreen tab later this year
This will reportedly reduce the price of the Kindle. Perhaps it will even be more affordable than the iPad?
How To Enable Apple's Hidden Multitouch Gestures On iPhone
You need to download Winterboard for this to work.
UPDATE: Winterboard installs automatically.
April Fools Day: Fox 5 News anchor managed to convince his co-host, during a live newscast, that a new iPhone/iPad app would allow her to taste/smell the images on the screen.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and new Galaxy Tab 10.1
iPad competition, finally! I’m glad Samsung did a 10” tablet, because a 7” seems terribly pointless to me.
Dropbox
I have poo-pooed Dropbox for a while now, but honestly, it is awesome (and FREE).
I’m using it to sync any active work files from my work laptop, and these can now be available on my iphone, ipad, personal laptop, and any computer with an internet connection. My goal is to be able to stop dragging around my work laptop when I travel, and be able to work from my iPad.
Give it a try, it’s FREE!
Sony S1 Gaming Tablet To Rival iPad 2
this thing could be sweet…
iPad 2 - My Opinion
There are a ton of rumors floating around there, and people are also making these great little “must-have” lists that everyone knows Apple won’t even look at. So what will it have? Here are my predictions based on the information I have been reading here and there:
Dual Cameras - I can’t see why it wouldn’t have this, plus the competitors are doing it. The iPhone has it, Apple has a manufacturer in place, and all the rumors point to yes. Plus, Apple is all about FaceTime, they will definitely want their devices to have it.
Larger Capacity - This is a given. Apple rarely rolls out new devices without upping the storage.
Retina Display - This has to happen. Why would they NOT use their brand new display technology? Unless they come out with something better… like sub-retina display…
USB Port - I’m going for a maybe on this one. There are enough adapters and accessories that plug into the existing dock connector, that Apple may decide against it in order to make it slimmer. However, I think it would be nice to have for printing, and for hooking my iPhone into for illegal tethering purposes.
SD Slot - Maybe… but who uses SD anymore??
Larger or Smaller Display - I say it will NOT have a smaller display, and though there are some rumors out there saying it will bump the display up an inch or so, I am calling bluff here.
Verizon 3G Connectivity - This all comes down to timing. If Apple announces a deal with Verizon prior to the iPad 2’s introduction, it is possible. Remember that this requires two devices. One for GSM, and one for CDMA… would they do that just yet? They may likely test it on the iPhone first before they start making changes to technology.
Faster, Thinner etc - Of course they will improve on the speed and design.
Those are my predictions as of now. Assuming most of my demands are met, I will be pre-ordering as soon as pre-ordering is permitted.
iOS 4.1 Jailbreak to be released Sunday
It’s about time! worth the wait! I’m excited to finally upgrade to 4.1.
Beware of "Free" Apple iPad scams on Facebook
It’s a scam, duh…. The old rule still holds true - DON’T CLICK ON LINKS FROM FACEBOOK! Think to yourself, would your friend really send you an invite to a “Free iPad Event” with a sketchy looking link using poor English to explain it? Yeah not so much. Wake up people!

Opt out of Apple’s iAd location tracking
From your mobile device (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch), go to oo.apple.com and you will be opted out of iAd tracking.
Thanks Mark for the tip.
